What are trackable links?

A trackable link is a type of dynamic field that can be added to your broadcast or flow. If you want to include a link in your broadcast, use a trackable link.

How will my link look in a message?

Our trackable link feature will generate a shortened URL that is unique to each recipient. This means you can track and understand click-through rates by message or by member.

What types of links can I send?

Any link you'd like! Share RSVP forms, petitions, or meeting links! There are endless opportunities to engage members.

Can I track my link's click rate?

Yes! Not only can you track the click rate of your link via broadcast or flow Reports, you can also track who specifically clicked your link.

Can I track click through rates on my link?

Yes, you can track how many audience members clicked your link and how many audience members clicked your link and submitted your form. This is available for contribution and advocacy forms in ActBlue, ActionKit, EveryAction, Mobilize, and Action Network forms. If you are tracking donations, Ascend will display your message ROI in reports in addition to click through rates.

Can I include dynamic fields to my links?

Trackable links can include dynamic fields in any part of your web address to make personalized URLs.

Note: Dynamic fields that contain a default value i.e. {{firstName | default: 'friend' }}, cannot be used in advanced shortened links.‍

Where can I use dynamic fields in my link?

Anywhere that works for your URL! For example, you can use dynamic fields as a URL slug or path. Since you can use custom fields as dynamic fields, you have the flexibility of using any piece of your Member data. Adding a dynamic filed into your like will make it a personal URL (PURL).

‍How will links with dynamic fields look in a message?

Like trackable links, advanced links will generate a shortened URL that is unique to each recipient.

‍How to add a trackable link to your message:

1. Create your message or flow.
2. Once you are ready to add a link, click Link above the compose window.
3. Input your URL.
4. To add in a dynamic field to your link, navigate your text curser to the part of the URL you'd like dynamic. Click the dynamic field pill and select the field you'd like to insert. Note: You can skip this step if you'd like every member to go to the same URL.‍
5. Click Add Link.

How to track click throughs on links to forms in your message:

1. Create your message or flow.
2. Once you are ready to add a link, click Link above the compose window.
3. Input your URL.
4. To add in a dynamic field to your link, navigate your text curser to the part of the URL you'd like dynamic. Click the dynamic field pill and select the field you'd like to insert. Note: You can skip this step if you'd like every member to go to the same URL.
5. In the Track click-throughs by type select the integration and form type you would like to track
6. Click Add Link.

Your message now contains a trackable link! You will see the full URL formatted as a dynamic field in the compose window.

‍Note: Ascend will generate a shortened URL that will be custom for each recipient. A sample of the shortened URL can be seen in the test window to the right of the compose window.
